CONCEPTUAL ILLUSTRATION

From video to behavioral evidence

Detection and tracking support behavioral analysis across assays. Pose-aware methods are applied where the assay's behavioral definition depends on body posture, including Y-Maze arm-entry detection and pose-derived, validation-only NOR exploration analysis.

HOW IT WORKS

One guided workflow, configured for each assay

Upload a recording, choose an assay, define its geometry and review the resulting measurements.

STEP 01

Upload video

Choose an overhead experiment recording.

Assay-specific workflow
STEP 02

Select assay

Choose Open Field, Elevated Plus Maze, Y-Maze, Novel Object Recognition or Morris Water Maze.

STEP 03

Define geometry

Fit the appropriate arena or maze to the frame.

STEP 04

Review results

Inspect measurements, trajectories and quality information.

RECORDING REQUIREMENTS

Designed for controlled behavioral recordings

RodentMetrics works best when the animal can be distinguished consistently throughout a stable, clearly visible arena.

Not sure whether your recording is suitable? Read the recording guide Open Field Test Analysis Software
  • Fixed camera positioned consistently over the arena
  • Stable arena and camera geometry
  • One mouse as the primary moving subject
  • Minimal movement from other objects in the scene
  • Adequate contrast and consistent lighting
  • Arena boundaries visible for setup and calibration
BUILT FOR BEHAVIORAL RESEARCH

Quantitative outputs without a custom tracking pipeline

RodentMetrics helps researchers turn rodent experiment videos into quantitative behavioral outputs while keeping the analysis configuration visible.

SCIENTIFIC TRANSPARENCY

Transparent by design

Deterministic analysis

Quantitative metrics are calculated by the configured analysis pipeline, not generated by an LLM.

Reviewable tracking

Inspect detections, tracking gaps and behavioral states directly against the source video.

Reproducible configuration

Analysis settings are stored with every completed experiment and report.

Raw data access

Export frame-level coordinates and behavioral states to CSV.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about recordings, analysis, results, and data handling.

All RodentMetrics assay workflows are designed for recordings from a fixed overhead camera with stable arena and camera geometry, clearly visible arena or maze boundaries, consistent lighting, adequate contrast between the animal and background, one animal as the primary moving subject, and minimal movement from unrelated objects. Recording suitability can vary, so review the guidance before starting.
